As a writer, I specialize in long-form narratives, solutions journalism, arts journalism and community journalism.
I have been a freelance journalist for nearly two decades, including the creation of “A Gay in the Life” published by Weekly Surge, a free alternative publication of The Sun News (McClatchy). The weekly column on LGBTQ+ issues in Myrtle Beach and surrounding areas of South Carolina was one of the first regular LGBTQ+ features in a major newspaper in the Southeast.
Regular contributor for Qnotes in Charlotte, N.C. Additional by-lines include Windy City Times, Philadelphia Gay News, and LGBTQ Nation.
Featured in Huffington Post, Wells Fargo Viewpoints, NC Local, on Comcast Newsmakers and blogs/guides from the Center for Cooperative Media, The Lenfest Institute and Solutions Journalism Network.
